Long Time staff member at The Haven of Rest receives Key to the City
Todd Artis, the Men’s Shelter Coordinator at The Haven of Rest was awarded the prestigious Key to the City of Battle Creek by Mayor Mark Behnke, after observing that a group of men had set a tent outside City Hall and helping them move to another location, to avoid further consequences, as well as his remarkable, dedicated and incredibly long-term service to the unsheltered residents of Battle Creek.
“We gave Todd the Key to the City for going above and beyond his responsibilities. After observing four individuals experiencing an alternative living lifestyle, Todd worked with all four of them so they could find a location that would be more conducive to their activities. We need more people like Todd, who want to improve the living conditions of individuals who are challenged’’, stated Mayor Behnke.
“Thank you, Todd, very much for your love of our Battle Creek community,” he added.
For almost 23 years, Artis has consistently gone above and beyond his responsibilities, displaying unwavering compassion and determination to positively impact the lives of those in need, as he tirelessly collaborated with individuals experiencing homelessness, providing support, guidance, and resources.
“I am truly honored to receive this recognition,” said Todd. “Working with the shelter and the individuals facing homelessness has been a deeply rewarding experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in their lives, and I hope to continue advocating for improved living conditions and increased opportunities for those in need.”
The Haven of Rest extends its heartfelt congratulations to Todd for his well-deserved recognition, and could not be more proud to have him as one of our longest-tenured leadership team members.
Next Friday, June 23rd, during The Haven’s “Roof Sit” event, Mayor Behnke shall endow Artis with a Certificate Recognition, live on air on WIN 98.5 and The Fat One 102.7.
